When you think of your event, can you picture exactly what colors you want in your flowers?

Cant quite picture your colors?
Here are some questions to get you thinking.

~ Do you want your florals to be one color? Or multiple colors? Maybe multiple shades of one color is up your alley...

~ Do you have a favorite color? Does your partner? Can you combine the two? Even if they don't seem to "go," adding an additional color or two could do the trick.

~ What about a favorite flower? That could be a good base to build your palette off.

~ What vibe are you going for? Moody? Cheery? Relaxed?

Still lost? Lets Take a trip Back to Art Class....

Some basic color theory may help you out!

There are three types of colors:

1. Primary:(Yellow, Red & Blue)

2. Secondary:(Orange, Purple and Green)

These are the colors you get if you mix two primary colors together.

3. Tertiary: These are the colors or hues that you get when you combine a primary and secondary color.

Now, lets talk about color harmony!

There are few basic terms/ rules that help us decide what looks good together:

Primary (1).png

Monochromatic: Pick a color and then add shades/ hues/ tints of that color

Primary (7).png

Analogous: Pick a color and then add the colors next to it.

Complimentary: Pick a color and then add the color directly opposite of it.

Now, knowing these handful of things, your possibilities are endless!

Like the monochromatic look but want some more dimension and a little flare? Add a hint of a complimentary color (or shade of that color!) Feeling the high contrast vibe but maybe it's a little to drastic? Add some shade of each to soften it...

Remember though, these are just some basic guidelines to follow. It's your event and there are no hard rules!

It's also worth noting that not all greens and whites are created equal; in the flower world there are many shades of each. Find the ones that work the best with your palette.
